Ellers Farm Distillery - York
The Project
John Wright electrical & Mechanical services were delighted to be nominated and appointed to design and install the electrical Installation for a new Distillery located near Buttercrambe, York. Within the ethics of the Distillery, sustainability plays a large part when deciding on energy usage and best practises and of course this plays a large part in the energy consumption in such items as Lighting for example where we utilised a range of LED fittings to offer a combination of Up and down lighting throughout the distillery building.
Another element of the design to consider was that the Distillery would be storing and Handling Ethanol -based spirits at above there flashpoint, therefore within the building it is expected that spirit liquors will generate flammable atmospheres and hence Dangerous substances and explosive atmospheres regulations ( DSEAR ) 2002 will apply. For this reason, hazardous areas will likely have to be assigned where spirit liquors are present. This report was carried out by a specialist company for the client and for ourselves to incorporate their findings within our design.
