Solar (Photovoltaic)

This form of energy takes light from the sun and converts it in to power for consumption either by the client or back on the national grid.

Solar (Thermal)

This form of energy again takes light from the sun and uses the energy to heat water in our homes/businesses.

CHP (Combined heat & Power)

This is the simultaneous generation of heat and power (Usually electricity) in a single process. In a standard power plan a huge amount of energy is lost as waste heat for a useful purpose ie, heating a block of flats for example. As a result CHP plants can be up to 95% efficient almost twice as efficient as gas or coal fired power stations.

Biomass

Biomass is produced from organic materials such as wood animal waster to provide warmth in a single room or to power central heating and heat water boilers. We install these systems to various organisations from domestic properties through to large business organisations, schools, etc.

Air Source Heat Pumps

There are many types of air source heat pumps in existence as it is a well-proven technology. Commonly used air source heat pumps are air conditioning units, some of these units have the capability to heat but will not have been optimised to do this in very low ambient external temperatures.

More recently, air source heat pumps have been able to heat homes through the year with no backup system. These heat pumps utilise a well-proven process called the vapour compression cycle. This the same process that is used in your home refrigerator but in reverse. Rather than cooling things down the system heats things up.

Ground Source Heat Pumps

Ground Source Heat Pumps use pipes which are buried in the garden to extract heat from the ground. This heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor or warm air heating systems and hot water in your home.

A Ground Source heat pump circulates a mixture of water and glycol around a loop pipe called a Ground Loop. Alternatively, a bore hole may be sunk. Heat from the ground is absorbed into the fluid and then passes through a heat exchanger into the heat pump. The ground stays at a fairly constant temperature under the surface, so the heat pump can be used throughout the year - even in the middle of winter.
