Savour the sounds of sweet music at Rhapsody - a Wilberforce Trust Charity Concert on Friday 21st September, 7:30pm, in the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall! John Wright are proud sponsors of the event, and have donated to pay for the hire of the fantastic concert hall. Situated within the beautiful grounds of the University of York, the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall was designed for its acoustic brilliance – ideal for the concert. The Wilberforce Trust is a fantastic initiative, supporting people with visual impairments, their families, friends, and any other carers, providing supported accommodation, a low vision clinic, and visual awareness training and activities within the Living and Learning Zone in Huntington. Their main aim is to support people, creating opportunities for anybody with sight loss and other disabilities.
The concert itself will consist of performances from an array of local choirs, singers and choruses, performing songs written by Sting, Vaughan Williams, Stevie Wonder and Bob Dylan. It promises to be an incredible evening of music with delicious, exotic Mocktails available as refreshments in the interval.
Tickets can be bought for £11 from Eventbrite – including the online booking fee. Tickets are also available for £10 from the Wilberforce Trust HQ in Huntington, or from Visit York on Museum Street. There is a regular bus service from the station and the city centre to the concert hall, and free on-site parking available after 6:30pm.
John Wright are incredibly proud sponsors of this fantastic event. Wilberforce Trust do some incredible work for the local community, providing much needed support for the visually impaired. The concert is specifically raising funds for the community Living and Learning Zone, helping local people with sight and hearing loss to remain as independent as possible. This is part of their new, state of the art accessible development off Tadcaster Road. We're hoping for a great turnout on the night, and looking forward to a night full of music, merriment and fundraising!
